ABOUT THE CIEE STUDY CENTER IN GUANAJUATO, MEXICO:

The CIEE Study Center in Guanajuato, Mexico was inaugurated in July, 2002.  Our students come from US universities from all regions of the country and from both private and public institutions.  The majority of our students are undergraduates studying liberal arts and humanities degrees, although this can vary.  The Study Center offers two short-term programs in Winter and Summer which emphasize Community-Based Spanish, as well as two semester-long programs in Liberal Arts (Fall and Spring) in which students take both Study Center courses and courses directly offered at the Universidad de Guanajuato.  In all semesters and terms, students live with host families in the city of Guanajuato for the entire program length.

CIEE, the Council on International Educational Exchange, was founded in 1947.  Its mission is “to help people gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.”  CIEE organizes study abroad opportunities for US students, offers faculty seminars for professors, and sponsors an annual conference as well.  CIEE also engages in advocacy work for international education.  For more information about any of CIEE’s programs and projects please visit www.ciee.org/study
